tell me why drugs should or should not be legalized?

tell me why drugs should or should not be legalized?
Prohibition does not prevent cannabis use by children or the mentally ill, the vulnerable populations whom we supposedly want to protect. Instead, cannabis prohibition makes it more difficult for parents, patients, society, doctors and law enforcement to control cannabis use. The Drug War makes honest education about cannabis impossible, and leaves cannabis users marginalized in ways that make their lives more stressful. This stress is unhealthy for everyone, but it is certainly most damaging to people with schizophrenia. Cannabis prohibition is not merely a failure; it is a counterproductive fraud that is harming those whom we claim we want to protect. There are currently more teens in treatment centers for marijuana in comparison to those admitted for alcohol. Only an idiot would have to ask why alcohol is not the no#1 problem after all alcohol is perfectly legal ( If you are 21.) That is due to responsible people handling alcohol by way of the carding and id system. Contraband markets make no age disgression. Since the crackdown on tobacco there are 75% fewer teens trying or using tobacco. However when it comes to cannabis and other illicit substances it’s a whole other ball game. Control, regulation and better education work prohibition, dose not. Or as John Walters of the ondcp (Office for national drug control policy) calls it “ a war on drugs” (Sorry John but it's true look at the Netherlands) America loves a war even if it is on it’s own people. One of several reason they don’t legalize drugs is not because of the harm of drugs, But people would lose more money in the long run. Some of the people behind the support of this irrational so called war are The tobacco industry, the alcohol and distilled spirit industry ( people simply don’t drink as much, or decide not to drink at all with cannabis meaning a decline in there sales. The pharmaceutical corporations can not make money on whole or raw cannabis, but they can charge an arm and a leg for there synthetic Marinol (dronabinol) CIII. The textile and paper industry would lose out from hemp production, sinse hemp dose not need to go through all the various processes that ordinary tree products would. Also it’s possible to get two harvest in one season. However people don’t know the difference between industrial hemp and smokeable cannabis, yet they are able to distinguish between the two in other country’s like Germany, the UK , Netherlands and even Canada, but our `DEA agents are so dumb they cant tell the difference between a stalk and a bush. Also people who have any knowledge of growing high quality cannabis will tell you that male plants should never be grown next to your high grade female plants, (unless of course you want to pollinate for future seed production). When it comes to farming hemp the males are left in tact to pollinate the females and produce as much seed as possible. This would mean a seedy mess for the pot smoker to clean up and produce undesirable future generations of smokeable cannabis. If anything, Hemp farming would be anti marijuana and would harm any outdoor pot farming within a one mile radius of any hemp farm. The petroleum industry would also be affected, sinse almost everything that can be made from petroleum can be synthesized from hemp oil, everything from bio fuel to even plastics. If North America would use a third of it’s land for hemp production we could create enough bio fuel to supply an area the size of Canada. Now also for a moment consider how many people are incarcerated over just cannabis who are currently in the prisons and jails. If cannabis were legalized and all inmates serving time for cannabis were freed there would be an over abundance of empty cells, and millions of guards in this country would be no longer needed. The prison building industry would almost be obsolete ( and if all drugs were legalized that would mean even more empty cells). So the prison system must have some means of gaining more inmates. Not to mention other areas such as treatment centers, probation.etc or HIDTA high intensity drug traffic areas where money is fed in to law enforcement, (they would miss there green $$$) Drugs , not even alcohol are the cause of the fundamental ills of society, rather than checking people for the presence of drugs, they should first test people for stupidity, ignorance, greed and love of power. The DEA has been fighting th War on Drugs for over 30 years. What have they won? The highest incarceration rate in the world?
2 :
Okay, I don't have enough time to read all of that...so sorry. I hate drugs, but we shouldn't make them illegal. I heard from this one teacher I had a while back that one time, alchohol was illegal and people tried making their own, so a ton of people got killed from that. It's not that I take drugs, but if we make them illegal then more people could get killed. But hey--what do I know?
3 :
they "some drugs" may be natural or derived from plants, however that dose not make the healthy or good for you Drug use is almost always associated with persons that are criminals that commit crimes to support their drug habits.
4 :
Drugs are already legal! Alcohol intoxicates and impairs your system, is addictive and available quite openly. Cigarrettes are very addictive too, and widely available. A quick rush? Pick up glue, nail polish, or turpentine anywhere. Numerous herbs, flowering shrubs and mushrooms are hallucinogenic, yet available for purchase all over. So what is the big deal? Whoever wants to poison himself will find the way anyhow
5 :
I truly believe you are the only person whom writes more than I... As a retired Police Officer I can attest Marijuana is just another drug, when used for recreational purposes it just makes stupid people more stupid and smart ones, Stupid. Alcohol does the exact same thing, yet, it is legal, for the most part. By Making "drugs" illegal, we force users to step into motor vehicles and drive to the backroads to drink or get stoned. Purhaps if all drugs were legal, this hiding would not occure and those whom choose to use them would do so openly, at home. This issue is about family intervention and Not Government; the exception would be, If You Drive Drunk or Stoned, your fair game for law enforcement. Education is the key as No Law will stop anyone from obtaining and using Any Drug, Ever. Prohibition showed us what makingt bad law was all about, Alcohol being made illegal was sold anyway for High Prices and this "new" drug issue is exactly the same as prohibition was of the 1920's. The money spent of "drug interediction" and policing could be spent on education.
6 :
For one thing it would wipe out the national debt.
7 :
yes,if it were any other war like the one on drugs we would have considered it a loss. we spend billions every year to lock up ppl , when that money could be spent on rehab and rebuilding the communities.
8 :
Drugs are bad, just deal with it. I'm sick and tired of stoners coming up with stupid outlandish reasons to legalize drugs just so they don't worry about getting slammed with fines and jail time. As far as the supposed medicinal uses go (for pain and anti-vomiting in cancer patients) compazine and vicodin do wonders without stinking up the hospital from pot smoke. I didn't read the entire "question" but whatever reasons there are to legalize use of it, I'm sure that there are better alternatives than making it easier for druggies to stay out on the streets and killing people "accidentally" because they shouldn't be driving around while high.
9 :
For me it comes down to this...it's my body and what I put in it whether it be heroin or drano is nobody else's business! Now if I break other laws such as driving under the influence or putting kids in danger, then you prosecute me under those laws. Our current 'War On Drugs' is a waste of time and money. We have prisons stuffed to the brim with people that have committed the crime of owning or using a substance that hurt nobody but themselves. On top of that, things that were once legal are now illegal. How can something be ok at one time then cause you to go to jail if your timing is wrong? Millions of people drank Coke when it still contained cocaine and it didn't cause any harm. Try that today and the harm you face will be a lengthy jail sentence.

Can the beneficiary for my life insurance be a non us citizen living in Germany (my parents)?

Can the beneficiary for my life insurance be a non us citizen living in Germany (my parents)?
I'm a permanent resident (German citizen) and work and live here in the US. I have two live insurance policy's and would like to put my parents down as beneficiary for one of them. My parents are German citizens and live in Germany. How can I make them the beneficiary when they obviously don't have a Social Security Number and don't live here in the US. The form for the live insurance requested a SS#. How can I make sure my parents will get the insurance money in the case of my death? I am married and want my parents to get the money if me and my husband pass away at the same time.

You need to speak to the insurance companies about this.
2 :
You would submit a copy of the life insurance policy (or a letter from the insurance company) with a form W-7 for each parent to the IRS. This will get you a number to give to the insurance company.
3 :
You can make ANY entity - person, company, trust, non-profit organization, etc... a beneficiary. They DO NOT need to fill out any particular form. AND, you do not need to 'ask' the insurance company. You 'tell' the insurance company whom you want to be listed as the beneficiary.
4 :
It would be helpful to the insurance company if you give them your parents names, addresses and any ID number that they might have in their country. Not that you have to but it makes things easier if there is a claim.

What is an awesome bike these days?

What is an awesome bike these days?
Giant, KHS, Trek, Globe. All sound like wonderful brands. Trek makes at least one bike in the USA. Which one would you recommend? Can I find any quality bike made in Canada, the States, or Europe or Japan? Why does it HAVE to come from Taiwan? The Chinese already make enough money off of us. Why not give other countries a chance for fair trade. Aren't there any bikes that I can get from Germany, Holland, or some other place in Western Europe? I'm looking for a road bike that is durable, light weight and competitively priced. Also how do I get bicycle insurance? Who offers it?

Heed this advice... Go with your gut instinct, in buying a good bike. More $$ does NOT = More quality. I found that out the hard way. First off, lemme tell you that I am in no way a bycicle guru... And also know that I am usually not a big-buck spender (I'm actually known to be quite "cheap" by my friends' standards, 90% of the time, or so). But I decided to really get into biking last summer. And dog-gonnet, I wanted to have one of the best damn bikes on the road, regardless of cost!...Now, normally, I'd consider spending upward to $200 for a good-quality bike. But I decided to really research it, and really cough up the big bucks, swallow my pride about being financially responsible, and go splurge my money on the great-quality bike! I coughed up $400 on a Gary Fisher bike (made by Trek). Why did I spend $400 on a Gary Fisher bike??? Because I asked multiple friends who were serious into biking, as well as browsed enthusiast sites online, as well as visiting and asking SIX different local bike stores......they all agreed that, without spending $1,000 or more, Gary Fisher was pretty much my best choice. Well....guess what. That $400 bike has had it's seat FALL OFF WHILE I RODE IT (off-road, but cerrrrrtainly not any extremem stunts...just a calm hilly dirt path), brake problems, and now I believe I have a bent back rim because my back brakes pulsate when I squeeze them. And overall, I hear a "click"ing noise every time I apply a decent amount of pressure on my first pedal as I get started... So yeeeeeeah.....$400.....for a bike who's quality is well below what I had a couple years ago in a bike that costed $150?????? Is it worth it???? NO!!!! Honestly, just go with your gut instincts... If you really think it's going to be worth it - cough up some $$.... If you honestly feel good about a cheaper bike that looks and feels great....go with that one. It'll probly be easier and more relaxing on your conscious to know you saved $250 on your initial purchase, even if you have to replace a couple parts over the next few years for a few bucks here and there. Good luck, dude. (Oh....and.... for the sake of men everywhere....get a big wide cushy gel-seat...your rump and your boys will thank you later)

Look at Santa Cruz bikes. Many components come from Asia, and some from Europe and the US. The main reason fro this is that the majority of bikes and components are sold there. Bike insurance is probably covered under your homeowners or renters policy. Check with your agent to see if it is covered.
3 :
Cannondale is still made in the USA. Some others are made in Italy - Maybe Pinarello or Bianchi or MAssi -Fexarri - Torelli - Mondonico - but not sure they are all made in italy. I am sure there are others too. Maybe you can find an 07 bike in a shop - here are the '07 steel ones from Bianchi - http://www.bianchiusa.com/07_road.html
4 :
Have you actually ridden any of the bikes you mention? You would be amazed at how many bike frames[good frames] are welded in taiwan, good frames welded to specs. You want a custom frame? Try Mark Beaver in Halifax nova scotia. He will weld you what you want.[Cyclesmith novascotia]I do hope you like steel. Just a shot in the dark, and I wish you luck
5 :
There are two words that are not compatible.. european bikes and competitively priced. THe point of making bikes in Taiwan is basically lower costs more sales and more revenue. I happen to have an Specialized Tarmac SL made in taiwan and is one, if no the best bike that ive owned (previously C-40 Coast Issue, CT-2, Trek 5900). I used to have a Colnagos and right know im still wondering how in the hell i paid that amoutn of money for a bike. Trek basically manufactures bikes in the US based on Pride... however that doesnt make them any better than other brands. On the other side try go get a BMC, Colnago, Look, Guerciotti, Daccorrdi.. with the price of an european frames you can get a full Trek, Giant or Specialized bike. But if you have the cash and want to roll in style go ahead.
6 :
trust me go with a redline or eastern element bike there the best qulity. I have a red line bike and i hit ramps from 3 feet and landed on tree stups with the rim and the rim is in 100% condition and no wabuling. ooh yeah my redline bike is called a rival.
7 :
Regardless of where the bike maker is based, you are very likely to get a frame manufactured somewhere in Asia. That's true for even very high priced Canadian or European brands. The "rule" is that a manufacturer can claim "made in" his country if he increases the value by 60%. To see where the big label bikes are actually made, check out http://allanti.com/page.cfm?PageID=328 HTH
8 :
Check out this site. It will answer all of your questions. Good luck. http://allanti.com/page.cfm?PageID=328 Oh, I see someone else already gave you this link. Sorry.
9 :
to me giant has no competition. they simply the best bikes for the money

Howcome many European nations don't have laundromats?

Howcome many European nations don't have laundromats?
I recall this being true in Italy and I think much of Germany and Austria don't have self-service laundromats. You have to pay someone to do your laundry and 20 years ago it was an arm and a leg. I think I paid 15 dollars for one basket full of clothes. I would think some enterprising businessman could make money just off of the tourists and students who want a laundromat.

Why do Governments "Borrow" money from Banks at interest to pay for Wars?

Why do Governments "Borrow" money from Banks at interest to pay for Wars?
The UK Independent of 9 Nov 2009, carried an article entitled Remembrance: 'At least we knew what we were fighting for in 1944', and invited comment. 'At least we knew what we were fighting for in 1944'. Did we really know?? Only a very few knew what was being fought for and why. It was not for "Freedom and Democracy". Wars are deliberately brought about by rich and powerful people, for the sole purpose of their becoming more rich and more powerful. It is for the same people, and for the same reason, that present wars are being fought. It is those same rich and powerful people who send our young men and women to die. And it is all for the profit of those same rich and powerful people. It was the same in 1939. Nothing has changed. The rich and powerful people don't fight, but they send our red-blooded youth as cannon fodder, to die for their gain, and their gain alone. And where do our governments get the money to finance these wars of aggression? They borrow it from the banks, of course. And just exactly where do these banks [which are owned by those rich and powerful people] get the money to loan to our governments, by which loans they put our governments, meaning us ordinary citizens, in their debt?? All while charging usurious rates of interest on their loans to our government? Precisely. meaning precisely, where does the money come from?? It is created out of thin air, at the very moment it is accepted by our government as a loan. Quotations below verify this statement. Those same rich and powerful people control the media in all its forms, so that you and I are not told the truth, but are told what they want us to think, which they, themselves have boldly stated at times. WW2, started by us in 1939, was brought about by those same rich and powerful people, because they were not able compete with Germany in the business of manufacturing and world trade. They realized that they would shortly lose both power and money, because Germany was outclassing them in quality and production in the world markets. The love of money is the root of all evil. - The Bible "The very idea of a government that can create money for itself, allowing banks to create money that the government then borrows, and pays interest on, is so preposterous that it staggers the imagination." - William Hixson, Canadian Economist "Once a nation parts with the control of its credit and money, it matters not who makes the nation's laws. Usury, once in control, will wreck any nation. Until the control of the issuance of currency and credit is restored to government, and recognized as its most conspicuous and sacred responsibility, all talk of sovereignty, of parliament, and of democracy, is idle and futile." - William Lyon Mackenzie King, Prime Minister of Canada "I care not what puppet is placed on the throne of England, to rule the Empire. The man that controls Britain's money supply controls the British Empire. And I control the money supply. " - Baron Nathan Mayer Rothschild London financier, Rothschild bank "The study of money, above all other fields in economics, is one in which complexity is used to disguise truth or to evade truth, not to reveal it. "The issue which has swept down the centuries and which will have to be fought sooner or later is the people versus the banks." - John Emerich Edward Dalberg Acton, First Baron Acton of Aldenham "When a government is dependent upon bankers for money, they and not the leaders of the government control the situation, since the hand that gives is above the hand that takes. Money has no motherland; financiers are without patriotism and without decency; their sole object is gain." - Napoleon Bonaparte, French emperor "It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning." - Henry Ford, Founder of Ford Motor Company So, can someone please tell me WHY do we continue with this OBVIOUS con?

These same people you talk about, rule us, teach us, bribe us, and enslave us. I think we are taught from an early age to "love" the government. This is why it is so hard for most people to accept the truth of your post. It is a hard truth and an ugly truth. Most people would rather live in the continued fantasy of: Freedom, TV, and technology. Speaking of the hard, ugly truth. We are slaves to these rulers. We are given the illusion of freedom, not because our rulers want us to be free, but because slaves who think they are free produce more than slaves who know they are not. It is very hard to approach our fellow slaves with these truths, because its not that our masters would beat us if we spoke them, but our fellow slaves will attack us trying to deny them.

Our economy is sustained by the military industrial complex. We therefore need to keep pumping money into the war machine to keep our country afloat. It is well known that the U.S. outspends all of its proposed enemies on defense x10. What's less known is that defense contractors are among the largest employers in the U.S.. Until we transition away from a military economy, we will continue to beg, borrow and steal to keep filling the pockets of laborers, executives and shareholders.

Our government created income tax temporarily to help cover the money they borrowed for the war. I'm still waiting to hear from them that they have the loan paid off and we no longer have to pay income tax.
