How much money will I need to move to Germany?
I need to know how much moo-la I will need to live in Germany. I mean after I get there. How much will I need for food and a place to live? How much do I need to make in a month/week to be able to live decently? I am going to be there for 2-3 years.

Well lets it does depend on the comfort you are looking for.if you are happy with a single bedroom and a shared kitchen or something, you may find something for 300-400euros,so lets say if you earn upto a 1000euros you will have enough money to manage the rest of the motnh. As food is a bit cheaper than in the UK,Holland,Belgium and France. But lets say you want a 1 or 2 bedroom appartment, you will be safe when you make between 1200-1500 euros every month. (Normally you should ahve enough to pay gas, electricity, water, tax, food, phoenbills, intenretconnection and you can even set a bit aside)But please know all does depend on where you want t olive, example Berlin,in the middle of the centre is a lot more expensive than in the suburbs. or smaller towns.Thats a rule that applies all over the world. Hope this helps.

when u live here for one month you'll need more than 1000 Dollar (900-1000€ Euro). You can live very comfortable when u have 1500 Dollar (1400-1500€ Euro)Where do you wanna live? In Munic its expensive, there you'll need more money, much more! And you won't find an appartment, never! The rents are so high! But you can find very nice appartments in Berlin and Colone, Frankfurt and Munic (but remember: its expensive there!). You'll need aleast 200-300€ per months for food. the rent for an appartment will be something between 200€ and 400€ per months (You'll pay the money for water, electricity and stuff with this rent! everything with these 200€ - 400€!) If you have a car be warned! gas is extremely expensive here: 1.40€ (i think it should be about 2 dollars) per Liter gas. So best is you'll use the bus/train/subway...thats cheaper. and don't forget to make sure that if something happens to you (accident...) the doctor will get paid! we got a crazy system here, everybody wants to be sure to get the money before they've done anything for you! good luck to you! greets from Berlin

Just sold my house. I serve in the military and will be traveling to Germany. I will not have to buy a new home since the Uncle Sam will provide my housing for the next few years. I need guidance on how to protect/invest/tax help on what to do with over 100,000 I will make. I was smart to get a 15 year mortgage and make extra payments each year.

Buy gold and keep some in euros. Buy real estate in the USA, since it is majorly down. Get a 15 year mortgage and make extra payments on it. Rent the house out. Use the rent money for the mortgage. Good luck and thank you for your service!
2 :
You are going to be getting your 2008 taxes done shortly, so ask your accountant at that time. You don't want our advice, as we are not professionals and could lead you down the wrong road majorly. Speak to whomever handles your benefits in the military also. There should be some type of program in place for our military personnel in this situation, as there are many of you whom have had to face this situation.

If it is sold, but hasn't closed you could amend the contract to reflect a 1031 exchange. You will have to purchase real property at a price equal to or more than $100,000.00. However, you need to move fast as you have to identify the property to be purchased before you close on the sale of your home. Then you have (I think) 45 days to close on the purchase. A 1031 exchange does not avoid taxes, it just defers them. realtor.sailor

You should have been thinking about this before you put the sale together. Consult with your accountant IMMEDIATELY for guidance.

amazing that the other 4 posts are WRONG. Actually not that amazing . . . If you have lived in the home for 2 of the past 5 years, the first 250,000 profit (single) or 500,000 (married) is tax free. It's your money and you DO NOT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING TO PROTECT IT FROM TAXES. Since you made "only" 100,000, you are ok. You don't have to buy another house or anything. I would talk with a tax accountant on the forms needed for this years taxes. As for where to put the money. Today, I would put it in a CD or money market account.

Proceed carefully. Why? First, you cannot legally sell alcohol without a liquor license, even if its for hobby purposes in the U.S. (I'm assuming you're in the U.S.). Recently, a guy with a bunch of 100-year old Jack Daniels whiskey and bottles he was selling to collectors got arrested for selling liquor without a license. The antique bottles and booze were destroyed. So, you should hunt around on the internet (your best bet), looking for collectors of antique liquor BOTTLES. Meanwhile, take some good digital photos of your stash. Don't clean the bottles if they are dirty--you might damage them and reduce their value. Then, get lots of opinions--at least 6 to 10 or more. Most collectors enjoy talking about their hobby, so you shouldn't have any problem learning more about your bottles. In order to stay within the law, DO NOT offer to sell them. You could ask the vague question, "are they valuable?" Ask collectors where you can go to learn more about your bottles, and do some of your own research. Eventually, you will have learned quite a bit about your bottles, and if your collection is worth anything, a few collectors will have offered to buy your bottles even though you never mentioned it. If you know the collector is legit, you can sell them without the authorities getting involved. Some (unwise) people may be selling on eBay, but I don't recommend this, because again, you could get busted, and you could also get scammed. On the other hand, check eBay to see if anybody has anything similar to what you have. If they do, then try to contact them and ask about your collection. You should expect to spend about 6 months or more on this project, in order to protect your safety and to eventually get the best price.

I trade in antique liquor bottles, I might be interested, send me an email with the number of bottles, what type of liquor it is and I'll send you an estimate of the value. My email is lx_000@yahoo.com.

How much money does a dentist make in Europe yearly ?

As a dentist, you are usually self employed, so you would have to set your prices on what the market will pay for your services. l used to live in Spain, and there was an article in one of the papers, that was picked up from an Italian newpaper. At that time, about 7 yrs ago, it was reported that almost half the dentists there were not dentists at all, but people setting up an office, and doing dental work, and surgeries. Some of the culprits were plumbers and carpenters. Don't know if it is still the case, I would imagine that the government would have dealt with this issue.

yes, long distance relationships are really tough. you could borrow some money from a friend or family member?
7 :
I'm sorry but if he doesn't like you going outside there are things in the relationship you need to question before you spend all that money on a ticket to see him!! He sounds extremely controlling and that you're trying to give alot to the relationship while he's not making any effort. If he was really that into you he'd come and see you.... Sorry to say it!

Germany doesn't have a massive forclosure bubble, does it? I think cutting some spending in good times is fine, but cutting in bad times would almost certainly lead to higher unemployment... basically kicking the economy when it's down...
2 :
The budget cuts aren't even implemented yet. Let's compare the proposed cuts to anything Republicans have proposed: "The savings planenvisages €80bn-worth of cuts over the next three and a half years and involves proposals to slash defence spending, abolish military conscription and postpone plans to rebuild a replica of Berlin's former Prussian imperial palace..." "The programme also contains a number of controversial measures which include extending the lifespan of Germany's nuclear power plants, imposing a "flight tax" on air travel and cutting spending on welfare and unemployment benefits. Thousands of civil service jobs will also be axed. However income tax, VAT and spending on pensions and education will remain at present levels. Ms Merkel insisted that there was no alternative to the cuts package. But her government has faced criticism abroad for cutting too much and thereby putting growth at risk." Military cuts and new taxes. I wonder how the Republicans would of react if Democrats had the balls to propose such things. .

Try this website, its a tournament where you can gamble your luck to make a lot of money and I mean real money. the good news is that you don't have to use any money to pay are sign up because they give you a penny where you can double it each time you win. You actually have a better chance of winning than playing the lotto about a million dollars if you have the brains and luck to. Why are they going to give you money? that's because they are already making tons of money from you by making you watching there advertisement that other sites pay them to, just like you tube for example, especially before playing a game. this is not a scam site because at first i thought it was until i search the internet and even came on here to see if there are anything that people are talking about the site so I have already did my homework.
