Do the Marines make you pay for your hotel room prior to leaving the States?
A friend of mine says that her son called her and needed money to pay for his hotel room in Maine due to a delay. He called her again from Germany saying he needed money for a hotel room due to a delay. They than took off for Iraq. A friend told me that in Germany they have barracks, no one stays at a hotel. So maybe the Maine incident is believeable but the money he wanted for a hotel in Germany I don't believe. Why would they let those guy/gals roam at will in another country.

Yes, but they usually give you money for the move. I think he's putting the touch on Mom.

no, the marines pay for it. My friend was homeless and joined the marines and they payed for his room and board before deployment. They are responsible for that

You usually file a claim when you arrive at your next assignment and they reimburse you for your expenses while traveling if they don't put you up in the barracks. Save all your receipts.

Yes, they sometimes get reimbursed for this. Have him check with his CO.

If he was leaving for Iraq then no, he would NOT be allowed to go to any city and get a hotel room. If he is deploying and going to Iraq he will at all times stay with his company in the airport. Even with a delay they stay at the airport. The military members are not allowed to leave their company or unit to go sight seeing or anything like that. They are to stay together in the airport. He was pulling mom's leg.

My boyfriend is a Marine and he had to pay for his hotel while he had to wait because of delays. I don't know so much about the time he was in Germany, but the time when he was in Maine can totally be valid.

He will get re-reimbursed... things happen and sometimes they do need to pay for it themselves at the time, but they will get that money back if they take the receipts to Financing.

Yes they do make you pay for your own room when you are leaving to go somewhere. However usually you get a government issued credit card in order to pay for that type of thing. When you arrive at your next station you fill out a travel voucher and get reimbursed for any expenses you had.

He received travel funds. It is likely he spent them on things other than the purpose they were meant for.

You put it on your militay credit card , than you fill out paperwork to get paid back for it.

My husband is in the Marine corps and they have "Government Charge Card" that gets activated when they deploy just incase they get delayed on a deployment or training mission. They cant charge what ever they want on it .. they do review what is charged and if its not something you have to have, then it comes out of you pay check. The service is responsible for that .. not the individual
