Anyone have some decent ideas on making money from home?

Anyone have some decent ideas on making money from home?
Hey, all. I'm living with my parents, stuck out in a rural Canadian area with no car and no way of getting into town consistently for a full-time job. I'll be starting my first semester of online college in a month or so, and I'm looking for a job that I can do online for some extra money, hopefully enough to move into the city and go to Germany for my next birthday... Any help would be awesome, since all I can come up with on google sounds so incredibly scammy. If it helps, I'm very proficient with typing and computers in general, and the program I'm entering is in Information Technology... Thanks, Sean

Since you don't have a car, it will be difficult. I'd suggest, if you have some seed money, to open an online trading account and work the stock market for awhile - become a day trader. You could make some good money that way, and you don't have to leave your house. However, you could lose money too, so be careful. Flipping. If you have a friend with a car (assuming he or she will help you), you could start buying things from garage sales and craigslist ads, and then resell them for a profit using eBay. Audio equipment is a good money maker on eBay. I once bought a vintage preamplifier for $100 from an ad on craigslist, and then resold it on eBay to an individual in Russia for over $1,000 USD. Turntables, Amplifiers, Preamps, Speakers, CD Players are all good if you find the correct make and model. Some valuable brands are Marantz, Sansui, Luxman, Pioneer, Adcom, Acoustic Research, Carver, and many others. Do some research and you will find the rare ones that command high selling prices, and those others that are junk.

selling things is the only legit way to make money

Do you think the United States should change the current campaign policies?

Do you think the United States should change the current campaign policies?
A German friend of mine studying abroad here in the U.S. told me that in Germany, all candidates are given a certain amount of money they can use for their campaign. This prevents candidates from receiving money for campaigns, thus eliminating the possibility that the person who wins is the one who had the most money for campaigning. This restriction also prevents candidates from passing laws that favor those sponsoring him/her. Do you think the U.S. should adopt this policy of having all candidates receive the same money to make it "fair" for all?

While I'm sure every system has it's corruption, I think anything is better than what's going on now. So, yeah, it'd be great to try.
2 :
That would be OK depending on who decides which candidates to fund, would need to be by petition I bet, and then you are right back to who has the money to get the petitions out and signed. A limit on the number of ads a candidate is allowed to put in publications and on TV might work. I've heard it suggested that a mug-shot style photograph (or worse a passport photo) of each candidate and a written statement not to exceed 1000 words should be put in the sample ballot and no other advertising allowed. I like that one. .
3 :
I think it's a great idea! Clean election laws should be passed. No more special interest money flowing, but I'd still allow the average american to support a candidate by limiting contributions as they do now. That means a CEO of a company can't give any more than what I can give. Under current law, a CEO can give his personal contributions but at the same time can also provide money through his company's PAC funds. Basically doubling what I can give. Funds distributive to a candidate should be limited, but is match base on contributions received by individuals only. He can sink all his own money into it, but that money is not matched. As a union member of a national union that supports these types of election reforms, it gives the power back to the people. People need to be able to voice themselves through contributions!
4 :
That money has to come from somewhere.
5 :
Will never happen in the US. Too much money.power, and influence on the line for the government to change election laws that dramatically.

some cops say legalize drugs, others dont, who side do you agree with?
Prohibition does not prevent cannabis use by children or the mentally ill, the vulnerable populations whom we supposedly want to protect. Instead, cannabis prohibition makes it more difficult for parents, patients, society, doctors and law enforcement to control cannabis use. The Drug War makes honest education about cannabis impossible, and leaves cannabis users marginalized in ways that make their lives more stressful. This stress is unhealthy for everyone, but it is certainly most damaging to people with schizophrenia. Cannabis prohibition is not merely a failure; it is a counterproductive fraud that is harming those whom we claim we want to protect. There are currently more teens in treatment centers for marijuana in comparison to those admitted for alcohol. Only an idiot would have to ask why alcohol is not the no#1 problem after all alcohol is perfectly legal ( If you are 21.) That is due to responsible people handling alcohol by way of the carding and id system. Contraband markets make no age disgression. Since the crackdown on tobacco there are 75% fewer teens trying or using tobacco. However when it comes to cannabis and other illicit substances it’s a whole other ball game. Control, regulation and better education work prohibition, dose not. Or as John Walters of the ondcp (Office for national drug control policy) calls it “ a war on drugs” (Sorry John but it's true look at the Netherlands) America loves a war even if it is on it’s own people. One of several reason they don’t legalize drugs is not because of the harm of drugs, But people would lose more money in the long run. Some of the people behind the support of this irrational so called war are The tobacco industry, the alcohol and distilled spirit industry ( people simply don’t drink as much, or decide not to drink at all with cannabis meaning a decline in there sales. The pharmaceutical corporations can not make money on whole or raw cannabis, but they can charge an arm and a leg for there synthetic Marinol (dronabinol) CIII. The textile and paper industry would lose out from hemp production, sinse hemp dose not need to go through all the various processes that ordinary tree products would. Also it’s possible to get two harvest in one season. However people don’t know the difference between industrial hemp and smokeable cannabis, yet they are able to distinguish between the two in other country’s like Germany, the UK , Netherlands and even Canada, but our `DEA agents are so dumb they cant tell the difference between a stalk and a bush. Also people who have any knowledge of growing high quality cannabis will tell you that male plants should never be grown next to your high grade female plants, (unless of course you want to pollinate for future seed production). When it comes to farming hemp the males are left in tact to pollinate the females and produce as much seed as possible. This would mean a seedy mess for the pot smoker to clean up and produce undesirable future generations of smokeable cannabis. If anything, Hemp farming would be anti marijuana and would harm any outdoor pot farming within a one mile radius of any hemp farm. The petroleum industry would also be affected, sinse almost everything that can be made from petroleum can be synthesized from hemp oil, everything from bio fuel to even plastics. If North America would use a third of it’s land for hemp production we could create enough bio fuel to supply an area the size of Canada. Now also for a moment consider how many people are incarcerated over just cannabis who are currently in the prisons and jails. If cannabis were legalized and all inmates serving time for cannabis were freed there would be an over abundance of empty cells, and millions of guards in this country would be no longer needed. The prison building industry would almost be obsolete ( and if all drugs were legalized that would mean even more empty cells). So the prison system must have some means of gaining more inmates. Not to mention other areas such as treatment centers, probation.etc or HIDTA high intensity drug traffic areas where money is fed in to law enforcement, (they would miss there green $$$) Drugs , not even alcohol are the cause of the fundamental ills of society, rather than checking people for the presence of drugs, they should first test people for stupidity, ignorance, greed and love of power. Okay, I have ADHD so I couldn't read through the whole thing, but I think I agree with what you're trying to say. I think marijuana should be legalized and I don't even use it. I just think that the government could be benefiting from taxing it and it would be safer because it would have to meet standards in order to be sold. I also think that marijuana is less addictive than things like alcohol and pain pills. I used to smoke marijuana (when I was in high school) like 4 times a day and when I quit, I didn't have any withdrawals or anything. That's not true with alcohol or other drugs, including prescription ones. So I just don't understand why marijuana is so taboo?
4 :
I understand what you are saying and you have some truths and a good Idea. I have epilepsy and have been forced to take synthetic drugs in order to keep the seizures under control. However, I am discriminated against by society and my family because of the effects of the medication that pharmacy would prefer me to take.
5 :
I definately do not agree with legalizing drugs, and I also think that tobacco should be prohibited.
6 :
Drugs are for those that can't deal with reality. Drug using is a <cop> out. Just my thought.
7 :
You have really done your home work on this one. Our country has literally "gone to pot" since drugs came into our culture full force in the 1960's. Drugs have caused lives to be shattered and children to be abused. Stupidity, ignorance, greed and love of power may be the driving forces behind drugs but to legalize more drugs would cause the down fall of an already shaky nation.
8 :
Sounds like you want the drugs legalized to make your job easier. We have enough problems with druggies in America. if it was legal, can you imagine the chaos? there are to many impaired drivers on the road, now. would you want a surgeon who was high opening your chest? would you want a plumber who was high installing your plumbing? would you want a judge who was high deciding your fate? would you want a cook who was high preparing your meals. would you want a day care worker who was high taking care of your children? etc etc........

What kind of aid are other countries providing?

What kind of aid are other countries providing?
It is nice to see that ordinary or rich(hard working)people give donations to much needed causes like this. But why do we have to give? Our governments have the money to provide, they have plenty of food surplus available. Just look at the statistics. We are definitely being over taxed and that over taxation needs to go to the people in those countries in poverty. The world pays billions and billions to kill people and to provide for their interests, why dont they spend it on saving lives? Sadaam killed a few hundred or a few thousand but in Africa I saw 600,000 bodies floating in the river and we did little to help that. I am also sick and tired of getting stuff in the mail from organizations that continue to need donations for this and that, especially for cancer. I had cancer in 1980 and the physicians said a cure would be available 10 years from that date. Everything is about trying to get money from the people actually need the money to make a good living, and to get additional media attention to the people that have the money to travel all around the country. Money money money...what happened to our real hearts. By the way I thank Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the VA Hospital at Loma Linda(doctors, nurses, all staff) for curing my cancer(like Lance Armstrong's) when I was stationed in Germany in 1979. To this date I still do not have an answer on how I got this cancer but a doctor in Germany said it was common over there....WHAT!? Finally, security is a very good thing and we should do all means posssible to support this as long as our freedom and our own privacy is not violated (the Constitution). Keep up the good work, and I thank you so much CHER for getting better helments for the troops(god bless them).

When aid goes to a country like Kenya (since you asked in the Kenyan section), very few benefit from it. There's so much going on out there (In Africa) and very few out here care. (That's the truth) I lost all hope on those save this save that organizations when I saw a documentary on how some American Doctor working with Cancer research went to India and got the doctors there to tell the sufferers that they had a new drug and it was free all they had to do was sign a document. (These people were illiterate) Turns out that they were actually doing experiments with these drugs and many continue to die needlessly due to this. It's good that they exposed this thing in India but nobody exposes what happens in Africa. Richer countries dump their waste (unfit for human use) in these countries and since the people there are so loving and accommodating, so gullible they don't really get to know what hit them until it does. One time they showed how Benson and Hedges was aiming their free cigarette try outs at the youth (from 12 year olds) in Gabon. What is unacceptable in their country they take to the African Nations. I personally feel bitter about the situation in Africa. Nothing is stopping Africa but Africa itself. The day we all realize this as Africans, stop relying on what others dictate to us and really care about our own, we will have a new dawn.

Is it against the law to sell soft drinks at a garage sale?

Is it against the law to sell soft drinks at a garage sale?
I am having a garage sale next weekend and before I go out and buy a bunch of coke and sprite, I want to know if it is okay for me to sell soft drinks at a concession stand at my garage sale. I live in Germany and I think it may not be okay to sell US drinks to the Germans in my village. If not, is there anything that I am allowed to sell? I would love to make some extra money next weekend.

I'm not sure about another country. I live in Florida, USA and to do a garage sale we need to get a permit at our City Hall. I would say ask some city/village authority that way you can have a garage sale free of problems. Hope it goes well!!
2 :
No one in either the US or Germany is going to care if you sell a few sodas one weekend. Law enforcement agencies have bigger fish to fry than that.
3 :
As long as you are selling unopened cans or bottles you are OK. You'll need a health department permit (and likely a food hander license) if you pour soda into cups from another container.

Who, exactly, do you think would catch you ? The soft drink police ? The garage sale police ? If you think you can sell it, do it. I wouldn't worry about consequences. Of course, Im the kind of guy that doesn't let government interfere with what I want to do if at all possible.
